Quad engine¶
The quad engine has four configurable slots in which a variety of mini engines can be selected. It can be used to create intricate rhythmic parts with different synthesis and sampling techniques using just a single track.

Each mini engine has a volume parameter, two unique parameters and an amplitude envelope. Notes triggered by the Poly pulse sequencer are mapped to the corresponding mini engine:

Tip
Setting polyphony to low values can be used to have certain mini engines not play when another mini engine is playing. The upper pulses always take priority over the lower pulses. For example: in the image above the polyphony is set to 1 so therefore the snare will never play at the same time as the kick.
Mini engines¶
In each of the four slots a mini engine can be selected by pressing the four buttons in the middle numpad column.

Kick¶
A tuned kick drum synthesizer using a sine wave with a pitch envelope.
snap sets the depth of the pitch envelope.
snap dec sets the length of the pitch envelope and thus determines the time for the kick to reach the note’s pitch.
Snare¶
A tuned snare drum synthesizer using a sine wave with a pitch envelope and filtered noise.
tone/nse sets the balance between the sine wave oscillator and noise.
nse dec sets the noise envelopes decay.
Ratchet¶
Filtered white noise passed through a ratcheting envelope which can be used to create claps or hi-hats.
ratchet sets the amount of envelope ratcheting. Higher values will result in more envelope peaks. The ratcheting is applied both to all phase of the amplitude envelope and might also affect the hold level.
freq sets cutoff frequency for the resonant high pass filter.
Metal¶
A metallic noise oscillator inspired by cymbals on early analog drum machines.
hat color sets the metallic noise timbre.
Sample¶
A single sample list player.
rate sets the speed at which the samples are played.
samples sets the sample list from which a sample is picked for each new note.
2xsample¶
A dual sample list player in which two samples from different lists are played and sample lists of different lengths can phase against eachother.
samples sets the first sample list from which a sample is picked for each new note.
samples 2 sets the second sample list from which a sample is picked for each new note.

Sawstack¶
Four detunable sawtooth oscillators through a (slightly) resonant 12 db/oct lowpass filter.
freq sets cutoff frequency for the filter.
detune sets a random detuning for each of the four oscillators.
FM¶
A 2 operator frequency modulation (FM) synthesizer.
ratio sets the ratio of the modulator.
FM sets the amount of FM.
