Projects and files

Various types of files are used to store and recall the state of the many systems inside the PolyPulse. Complete projects can also be stored or recalled.

The file browser

The file browser allows you to browse the internal file system of the PolyPulse to load and save files or projects.

Press files to open/close the file browser.

Use X to scroll through the files.

Press yes to load a file or open a folder.

Press no to exit folder, go to parent folder.

Tip

Multiple audio files can be loaded simultaneously. Press shift to (de)select a file or hold shift while scrolling to quickly (de)select multiple files. Then press yes to load all selected files.

Warning

Loading instrument files, large audio files or projects while the instrument is playing will likely result in unwanted clicks and artifacts.

Projects

Projects are organized into dedicated project folders. Inside the project you will find a .proj file and several other included files. By loading the .proj file all the other files included in the project will also be loaded. The individual files inside a project can be manually loaded or overwritten.

Tip

Loading a complete project will interrupt the sound. To transition between two projects during a live performance, you can load individual files of the next song on an unused track. With that you can introduce musical elements of the next song while keeping some sounds of the current song going.

A template project can be created that is automatically loaded when the PolyPulse firmware start. Simply create a project called template inside the projects folder.

Audio files

The PolyPulse can load a variety of audio file formats and does not require audio files to be converted to specific bit-depths or sample rates. File formats that can be loaded include:

  • WAV

  • AIFF

  • Ogg/Vorbis

  • FLAC

Files recorded using the PolyPulses internal recorder are stored as 16-bit 48 kHz .wav files.

Note

A full list of supported audio file formats can be found here. Note that the PolyPulse currently uses libsoundfile version 1.0.27-3 and thus cannot read Ogg/Opus or MP3 files.
