Credits

The PolyPulse is an instrument designed and created by Ward Slager and produced under the brand name of Lambda Synthetics. The earliest ideas for the instrument trace back to 2019 and full time development began in 2021. A large part of the work has been done as part of Ward’s Master of Music degree at the HKU. In October 2023 the PolyPulse launched on Kickstarter and with help of 34 backers production started in 2024.

The majority of samples and presets (tagged DWP-…) are created by Dauwpunt. He and Olivier Terpstra have accompanied me to exhibitions such as Superbooth and Dutch Modular Fest and have been valuable beta testers of the PolyPulse in the past few years.

The PolyPulse uses several open source technologies including:

• A BeagleBone Black board with the Bela core for embedded ultra-low latency audio drivers and a quick development environment.

• 5 Bela Trill Square touch sensors.

• libsndfile for reading and writing audio files.

• JSON for Modern C++ for reading and writing PolyPulse project and preset files.

• Scala-file for reading Scala tuning files.

A morphing system similar to the PolyPulse’s Morphing system is used in the PRP Voyager created by Ward Slager and Fedde ten Berge.
