Fade delay

Fade delay is a multitap delay with randomly modulated delay times. The delay has a single feedback loop with a compressor to prevent the feedback from exploding and to lengthen the decay times.

frequency changes the rate at which the delay times are changed. Low values result in more resonances while very high values result in noisy signals.

feedback sets the gain inside the feedback loop.

shift sets the chance that a tap will pitchshifted upwards by an octave.

dry/wet mixes between the inputs and the delayed signal.

Tip

Because of the constantly changing delay times, the audio effect slowly diffuses the echoes and thus can be used as a sort of ‘reverb’. Set the frequency between 0.2 Hz and 5 Hz and the feedback between -12dB and -6dB. Optionally add a bit of shift to introduce shimmer.
